Many Uchinanchu go there to pray at shrines on the ruins site. I have visited there several times and have also prayed there. My visits inspired me to compose the following poem. <br \/>\n&nbsp;<br \/><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>At Nakajin<br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin I climb the stairs, <br \/>\nAncient stone steps from days gone by.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  <br \/>\nOf their history I&#8217;m unaware, <br \/>\nAs to how many fought here and died. <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin I climb to see <br \/>\nBeyond the stairs to what is there. <br \/>\nI wonder what the future be <br \/>\nFor Kingdom fallen in ill repair. <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin cannot see the past, <br \/>\nOr beyond to times yet to come. <br \/>\nI climb and wonder how long she&#8217;ll last <br \/>\nIn the Land of the Rising Sun. <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin I ache through the climb, <br \/>\nStruggling to reach the stairway top. <br \/>\nSeeing senior stone structures so sublime, <br \/>\nGives me pause where I must stop. <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin I go on after rest, <br \/>\nAscend the steps to reach their end. <br \/>\nOf mystery above I only guess, <br \/>\nWith beauty lost in time to mend. <br \/>\n&nbsp; <br \/>\nAt Nakajin upon the top I gaze <br \/>\nTo find ruins of Kingdom once great <br \/>\nI dream of Samurai through the haze, <br \/>\nWho lived their code through love and hate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nakajin Castle (Nakijin-jo) ruins are in the Nago region of Okinawa.
