(<\/span><st1:place><st1:placename><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\">Current<\/span><\/st1:placename><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\"> <\/span><st1:placename><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\">Onna<\/span><\/st1:placename><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\"> <\/span><st1:placetype><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\">Village<\/span><\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\">) It was during this time when he changed his name to Afuso.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Around 1808, he took classes from Sekko Chinen, eventually becoming Master Chinen&rsquo;s most senior student. <o:p><\/o:p><\/span><\/font><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0mm 0mm 0pt; line-height: 200%;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><strong style=\"\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt;\"><o:p><font face=\"Century\">           <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/strong><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\"><font face=\"Century\">After Master Chinen`s death, He edited a version of Chinen`s KunKunShi twelve years after the death of his master in 1840.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>This Chinen kunkunshi is not the same version of Chinen KunKunShi preserved today. <span style=\"\"> <\/span>Also as well as other famous works dealing with Ryuka (Ryukyu Poetry).<span style=\"\">  <\/span>`Kadou Youhou` was a document created to give the do&rsquo;s and don&rsquo;ts about performing uta-sanshin.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>He became leader of the Musican accompaniment section for the Unkansen as well.<span style=\"\">  <\/span><o:p><\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0mm 0mm 0pt; text-indent: 42pt; line-height: 200%;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\" style=\"font-size: 10pt; line-height: 200%;\"><font face=\"Century\">Master Afuso became founder of one of the two major Styles of classical uta-sanshin.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>The story goes that King Sho Tai ordered Nomura Ancho to edit the KunKunShi of master Chinen; Creating Nomura Ryu(style).<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Seigen Afuso sought to preserve the highly personalized, difficult to learn Master Chinen`s performance style.<span style=\"\">  <\/span>Presently two organizations, Afuso Ryu Gensei Kai (established 1932) and Afuso Ryu Gensei Kyokai (established in 1960) He passed during the winter of 1865.<o:p><\/o:p><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0mm 0mm 0pt;\" class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\"><o:p><font size=\"3\" face=\"Century\"> <\/font><\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Profiles of Giants of the Ryukyuan Music Performing Arts &#9318; Seigen Afuso (1785-1865) Uta-Sanshin Afuso Ryu (Style) Founder Master Afuso was born in present day Tera Cho, Shuri, February 15th, 1785.
