Konan High School, Okinawa Prefecture Baseball champions and representative to the National Baseball tournament won their first round game today, 3-2. In this single-elimination styled tournament, the Konan vs. Okayama Ridaifuzoku was the 2nd game of 23 in the first round.

Ridai jumped out with a 1-0 lead in the 2nd<\/sup>, but Konan came back with steady pressure in both the bottom of the 3rd<\/sup> and 5th<\/sup> innings to finally take the lead. <\/span>They held the lead until the top of the 8th<\/sup>, when Ridai tied it up. <\/span>But Konan immediately bounced back with another run in the bottom of the same 8th<\/sup> inning to secure the win.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

Konan<\/span>’<\/font><\/span>s excellent defending and characteristic calm under pressure won out, even as Ridai put a man on base with no outs in every single inning.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n

It<\/span>’<\/font><\/span>s been 24 years since <\/span>Konan<\/span><\/st1:placename> <\/span>High School<\/span><\/st1:placetype><\/st1:place> has represented <\/span>Okinawa<\/span><\/st1:place> in the national tournament, and the 7th<\/sup> time total. <\/span>Now Konan must wait almost a week before they get to play again.　　They will face the winners of the Bunseigeidaifuzoku vs. Ichifunabashi game, on the 14th<\/sup> of August.<\/o:p><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
